Q: Will I always get funding?
In some cases you may not be able to get funding. There are a number of reasons for this, such as the type of training you want or you may have already had access to the funding for another event.
Q: My business is already working with a Skills Broker through an ETP – does Train to Gain affect this?
No – the launch of Train to Gain does not change or stop any existing relationships or training programmes through ETPs.
Q: How do I contact my local skills broker?
Contact the main Train to Gain switchboard on 0800 015 55 45 and arrange for a local skills broker to contact you
Q: What courses are available?
Train to Gain offers broad-ranging skills advice. Your skills broker may well recommend that some of your employees undergo training courses. The skills broker will consider all available courses, from a range of training providers including public colleges and private training companies.
If no suitable course is available, your skills broker may put you in touch with a training provider who can create a course tailored to your specific needs. Funding for some courses is available through Train to Gain. From January 2009 we'll also be offering funding for a range of smaller, focus training programmes for small and medium sized private sector businesses.
Q: How does Train to Gain work?
The Train to Gain Service offers expert, tailored skills advice to businesses of all sizes and in all sectors. Once you get involved with the Service through a skills broker or if you have 5,000 or more employees, the National Employer Service, you will be supported as you give your employees the skills to drive your business forward. While the training may require a financial investment from you, the services of the skills broker and the National Employer Service, come at no cost to your business.
Q: What qualifications does Train to Gain cover?
Train to Gain offers broad-ranging skills advice. Your skills broker may well recommend that some of your employees train for recognised qualifications. They will consider all available relevant qualifications, as well as any other solutions to your skills needs. The recommendations will be tailored to the needs of your business, and may range from Skills for Life to degree-level training and beyond. Your skills broker will recommend suitable training providers who can assess your employees individually and provide the training to help them achieve the qualifications.
Q: How do I find out about funding?
When you get involved with Train to Gain you’ll start working with a skills broker. Your skills broker will be able to tell you about the funding available from Train to Gain, as well as other sources of funding that you may be eligible for.
Q: How do I access funding?
When you contact Train to Gain you’ll meet a skills broker who will work with you to identify the right training and other skills solutions to drive your business forward. They will be able to help you identify and apply for any available sources of funding, from both Train to Gain and a range of other sources.
